Coquetdale Creatives

Welcome! This website is the place to discover some of the talented, brilliant, and skilled artists, craftspeople, musicians, writers, photographers, designers – all types of creatives, who live and/or work in Coquetdale. There are many people who I have already interviewed, and you can find out about them in the Creative Folk, with many more interviews to come.

We also host regular poetry, writing, and music events, in Rothbury. These events feature published writers, and musicians, who have the main slots, but there is also space for audience members to take part. Occasionally we put on writing retreats and other events.

If you are a creative, living or working in Coquetdale, and you would like to appear on this website, please get in touch with me.

About Coquetdale Creatives

Hi, I'm Katie Scott and after moving to Rothbury in 2015 I was delighted to explore not only an area of outstanding natural beauty, but to discover outstanding natural talent! In Rothbury, and further down the valley, are many wonderful folk who are painting, making music, sculpting, knitting, making dolls, writing poetry, publishing books, creating computer programmes, planting wild flower meadows, hedge-laying, making furniture, and many more interesting and innovative things.

It was a great treat to be able to interview some of these people, and the Northumberland Gazette was keen to publish the articles. During the Covid years I stopped interviewing and started Rothbury Climate and Nature and Rothbury Trees.

As time has passed, I felt that it was a shame that because of the ephemeralness of print media, the interviews were not so easy to find. Making a website would be a more permanent place for people to find out about Creative Coquetdale Folk. And also, now feels like the right time to get back to discovering the wonderful creatives I have not yet interviewed.
